Duff & Phelps Expands UK Valuation Advisory Practice and Hires Two New Managing Directors

Duff & Phelps, the global advisor that protects, restores and maximizes value for clients, today announced that Marcus Morton and Albert Maass have both joined the firm as managing directors in the Valuations Advisory Services practice, based in London. 

Morton is part of the core Valuations Services team focusing specifically on the financial services sector. He has over 25 years of experience in investment banking with significant expertise in all types of valuation opinions, operating models, risk management, cost transparency, control frameworks and compliance.

Most recently, Morton worked at KPMG and prior to that he worked at several investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Nomura, J.P. Morgan and Barclays, and spent several years as the Senior Risk Officer for a large investment fund.

Maass joins Duff & Phelps expanding Financial Instruments and Technology (FIT) business unit in the UK.  With new financial processes, rapidly evolving regulatory environments and increasing adoption of sophisticated quantitative models, FIT improves the ability to identify, control, diversify, mitigate and/or exploit risk.

Maass’ client focus will include institutional investors and asset managers with illiquid portfolios worldwide. He has three decades of risk and investment management experience working for financial institutions in the UK, Americas and Asia. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, he was a managing director at Edelscourt Ltd., where he served as risk management expert to asset managers, risk management specialists and research firms. Maass has also held the role of head of alternative investments and risk capital allocation at Shinsei bank in Japan, and advisor to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Aflac in the U.S. and Japan.
